“I’ve never had sex in a car,” Morgen admitted, cheeks flushed, and one leg slung awkwardly up on the dashboard.

Technically, it was a truck. But she’d never had sex in one of them either.

Amar reached up, removed Morgen’s panties from the rearview mirror, and handed them to her with a self-satisfied smirk. Morgen accepted them, her cheeks warming even further as she remembered flinging her clothing wantonly around the cab. And here she’d been judging Zoe an hour earlier for retrieving undergarments in a similar state.

Morgen and Amar were in the parking lot at the bakery. It was the back of the parking lot, and there weren’t many people there on the foggy Saturday morning, but she felt risqué for having steamed the windows with Amar.

She wasn’t sure how it had happened. She’d been distraught as she leaned into him, accepting his comfort—and his kisses—but she hadn’t been planning to have sex. Not in public. But Amar had been feeling good—and randy—after his long night’s hunt.

“Never?” he rumbled. “Because your ex-husband was uptight?”

She swatted him on the chest but admitted, “Yeah. And maybe I was too. Also, neither of our vehicles had a long bench seat. Modern car seats make things more difficult.”

“Not to those who are determined.”

Since she didn’t want to hear about his previous car encounters with lovers, all she said to that was, “And who don’t mind getting seat-belt buckles up their butt.”

“My truck doesn’t have seat belts.”

“Funny how you say that like it’s a feature, not illegal and a safety hazard.”

“Werewolves are bad boys.”

She shook her head and kissed him, not able to disagree. His stomach whined, and she leaned back.

“Didn’t you get enough elk during the night?” Her stomach was hollow as well, so she shifted to tug on her clothes. She had to pick up her bakery order and planned to have a scone for herself before heading back, at which point she hoped pastries would put her family in a better mood.

“We ran into a moose and took it down. It was quite satisfying, but there were a lot of us, so I’m not as full as I am after hunting solo.”

“So, you’re in dire need of scones and coffee. And floss to get antler fuzz out of your teeth.”

“I didn’t eat the antlers, but I’ll say yes to the rest.”

Amar shifted her off him so he could also dress. Two seagulls landed on the hood of the truck; they were barely visible through the steamed windshield.

“Will you return to your family after resolving this pressing issue at your building?” Amar asked as he stuck his foot in a boot.

“I guess. Whatever Zoe’s telling them, it’ll probably only make things worse.”

“Yes.” Amar paused and eyed her. “How and why did she end up wearing my bear hide?”

She remembered the Lobos had arrived after Zoe and Ungar had wandered out of the barn and Ungar had left. Amar must have been mystified by Zoe meandering around outside in his bear hide.

“She spent the night in the barn,” Morgen said.
